What auction system do you guys prefer when selling your domains?

Personally I have been using Sedo but quite recently I have sparked some interest in the GoDaddy Auctions.

The one thing that I have noticed is that they require an up front fee of $4.99. While this is a small amount I feel that Godaddy still tries to get that dollar everywhere possible...

Godaddy also has a free option for selling, but, yes, there is a yearly $4.95 fee that includes all access, both buying and selling.

I prefer Sedo for selling, Godaddy for buying.

I can't seem to find the free option.

Always try and find a coupon to help with that :)

I guess I was not clear.

Without a coupon, it costs $4.95 per year to access and bid on auctions, EXCEPT closeout domains. Anyone can bid on those.

However, once you have joined, it's FREE to list a domain and FREE to bid.

Now if you want a premium service, such as a featured listing, it costs extra. You can also pay for extra keyword categories.

Sorry about that, Ray; I was trying to multi-task, and didn't do a very good job at either task.

:(

I have sold zero on GD and 4 on SEDO. I must confess though that i find SEDO searches very frustrating and always wonder how potential buyers find a name unless it is an exact keyword match with no extra bits added on. For example i recently registered sipnnn dot com (nnn being a numeric value). Now when i look on SEDO at sip (without the nnn) it pulls up over 16000 variations of the word, in variations that i never dreamed of like drink and drunk driving. I could not be bothered to look how far down the list mine is and yes i do realise that there is an advanced search to filter some unwanted, but i wonder how many potential buyers are aware of that or even can be bothered?

The search sucks.
I hate searching for something only to see a a million synonyms.

This option should be the opposite, instead of having to go to "Advance Search" and then click off "Consider Synonyms" it should be the other way around.

For domainers we know the drill but for end users who are only looking for a particular name and are not aware of the extra steps, its like having to find a needle in a hay stack for them.

If an end user wants to look for "CarSales" domains and only wants the words Car Sales in the name, they will get 2840 results unless they click off Consider Synonyms and then you get 545 results.

I think it sucks :(

How many end users actually goto Sedo tho. Without having prior knowledge one might have a hard time even finding it.

One google and bing, i searched for the terms "buy domains, find domains, search domains, browse domains, and domain list"

Sedo wasnt even in the top results.

I personally have never been big into sedo, although recently i have started looking into it again.

I have my opinion because it is against sedos terms to promote your domain while it is parked on there servers. (direct link, ppc, etc) Yet, one might not be able to find your domain unless otherwise promoted. It isn't a fair balance between selling and earning in my opinion.

There is always the argument that you can link to the actual domain listing in sedo, but who really does that.

I just prefer to market my domains on my own. Develop, Squat, Adense is the way that i go.

Sedo does not allow links to parking pages because of their ad providers, which they could lose if people clicking on ads are not buying their products or services. Advertisers frown on paying for ads that return very little results. I can't blame them for that.

Also there is the click fraud issue, which continues to be problematic for advertisers and ad providers.

You CAN promote your domain by providing a link to the AUCTION page itself; however, finding this link through Sedo is difficult.

I totally agree that Sedo's search function is puzzling...

The sales page for every domain there has this form
sedo.com/search/details.php4?domain=mydomain.com

You can just substitute in the name of your domain and then link to that page, or if you want forward the domain direct to that for sale page.

Yes and favours some TLDs mainly .com it seems. Why can't they just enable a predictive search so you get a dynamic dropdown list of possible matches? It would also be fun to see a list of the most common searches on Sedo... well they might be adult LOL.

When you start using their advanced search it can narrow the field nicely, but it is a well-kept secret.

I'd be happy with a price increase myself.

* edit below*

I should clarify, I don't like paying more, but if it means deterring competition.. Great!
