GoDaddy Aftermarket sales

I found a domain on Godaddy Aftermarket that i was interested in buying. Added it to cart and they force you to pay full price ($9+) for a renewal on the domain in addition to the purchase price of the domain itself.
Coupon codes don't work.

Is there any way around buying the renewal at the same time?

If you buy a lot of domains - frequently getting the lower prices - call them and they will probably lower it to the $7.xx range.

I've used coupons on the renewal price. Sometimes they work. Although I don't recall the last time I did this.
