Gname - Backorder Tiers?

I am a bit confused with how the tiers work for Gname and was hoping for some insight.

Based on rule two it seems like a higher tier offers avoidance of others on lower tiers participating in an auction.

However, most the auctions I get into for mid-tier domains show they have starting bids of $65 (max tier)

My original bid on this was Tier 2 - $9.50

I'm trying to figure out raising my tiers a bit higher into the $25+ range .. will it actually help me avoid auctions from those who put in lower tier backorders through Gname?

A higher tier beats a lower tier in the backorder phase. Which means, for a caught domain by GName's system, a Tier 1 user will always be awarded the domain while a Tier 2 user will lose that domain to the Tier 1 user.

If both users have used the same Tier then an auction starts.

Note that auctions do not necessarily happen on GName's platform,
eg. if a domain has been caught by Dropcatch then the auction happens there but you control it via GName's interface.

Why I'm mentioned that?
because you might see bids that come externally and have their own Tiers.
So, you might be the only one placing a BO on GName but others that have placed a BO for the same name on eg. Dropcatch will be considered as reason for an auction if the domain was caught by Dropcatch.

If your BO tier is higher than everybody else's (and the domain wasn't caught by another dropcatch service but GName's) then you will be awarded the domain.

However, when a domain is worth catching, you will rarely catch it using such low tiers.
