Whenever i try to log in it says:

Gmail requires ActiveX controls to be enabled

Your browser seems to be Internet Explorer, and ActiveX seems to be disabled. Gmail requires ActiveX to be enabled in order to operate.

To use Gmail, enable ActiveX controls in Internet Explorer. You can do this by going to the Tools menu, selecting Internet Options, Security tab, Internet zone, and either select the Default Level, or selecting Custom Level and scrolling down to "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and selecting Enable.

After enabling ActiveX controls, try again.




I enable it (even though it was enabled already) and still doesnt work...

ok, it works on my XP but not my windows 98' ....

I had this problem as well killaklown. It happened after I added gmail to my trusted sites list. For some reason gmail doesn't like being added this and I tried numerous configurations but still couldn't get it to work.

If you have done the same, then simply delete it from your trusted sites list and it should begin to work again.

i added it to the trusted list after it didnt work enabling it, ill try agian later.

Dumb and unrelated question: how exacly are people getting the Gmail invitations to sell? Is google selling them somewhere?

same problem here,
when i tried in 98, iam unable to see gmail webpage,
i thought that gmail may be down
but whenever i shifted to Xp, there is a charm in my face, as its working

i hope they will correct it,
now i want t o write a review abt it,
where i will notice this problem.
but i didnt get a message wat killaklown got.

Have you tried clearing your cache, cookies, etc. ?

Ive saw friends use gmail on win98 without any probs, try doing as qxh says and clear your cache..

I'm using a computer from a computer lab on my college campus and I don't know what's going on but Gmail has been incredibly slow and a couple of times would just not work. I mean all I really did was just go to gmail.com and that's it.
