Gmail's new Domain feature!! Beta!

Gmail has already released the Domain feature:

what does it do? If I have my own mail at [email protected] with 3MB space, does google service give me 2GB disk at gmail.com if I forward my ownmail to gmail?

I haven't read their plan, but would guess they handle the MX DNS record for the domain and you get the same thing they offer for gmail. Actually mail requests would probably direct to their mail server, the same ones that currently handle gmail. The only exception would be your domain in the email address instead of "gmail.com"

At least this is the way everyone.net works. I've had a couple domains at everyone.net for a number of years since the time when anyone could get free mails services there and half the banner space on the email. Gmail would get to add google adsense ads to the email messages while you promoted use of the accounts, much like eveyone.net added banners to the emails. Again, jus speculating on how it works. Basically an old idea with some improvements and new twists.
