On March 7th, I announced my first personal site (www.FreeNameExchange.com) that allows domainers to list and sell their domain names FREE without ever paying submission, sale, or transaction fees.

Today, I am proud to announce that we have added a bulk upload feature. :lala:

Completed:
1) Bulk Upload Feature
2) Domain statistical tools
3) Classified listings on the home page
4) Recently added domains listed on the home page
5) Domains available for lease show 'Lease Now.'

I still consider the site in beta release until it has everything you could want. I want to know what features are most important to you. I received a lot of help from the NamePros community when I was putting together a list of specifications and so I thought I would come back for more help.

Below is a list of the latest suggested upgrades (Can you suggest others? What are most important to you?):
1) More editing capabilities
2) More options to show off domains
3) SSL
4) Views on the actual domain page
5) Premium Name Certifications
6) Add more content to the homepage
7) Rework the logo to let visitors know more about the site (Free Exchange of Domains)
8) Recent sales
9) More content after the featured listings
10) Add text to the site to help improve search ranking
11) Syndicate listings (provide code so site owner can create a cron job to pull and update file once a day; export domain and description but not user)
12) Links to domain tools
13) More domains show per page, ~50
14) Quick edit feature

Thank you NamePros!

That looks like a very nice site - and as soon as I can I will be signing up and listing a few domains. After that I will try to get back here and give you suggestions - once again, very nice :)

Best of luck!

What if you had a sort of group appraisal feature?

For example, I go to your site and look around. I may not buy, but I could say give an idea of what I thought certain domains were worth. After 10 people have given an opinion, the average of their appraisals would appear in the listing....a sort of "Domainers Average Appraisals" or something.

It would not only give people an idea of what they should offer or expect, but it would also give an example to othere about what they should expect as well.

I imagine the implementation of that would be a bitch though.

How could we stop the user with the domain to sell from submitting appraisals and prevent multiple appraisal submissions from the same person?

My thoughts are possibly to limit appraisals to existing users with accounts, i.e. users can appraise other users' accounts, and limit every user to 1 account.

Sorry, thought I wrote that in my blathering. Only people with user accounts and that have a domain listed could appraise.

I thought about the idea of a user contributed appraisal system and one fear I would have is abuse of the system. For example, if we both had an account and I am like hey showbiz2 if you appraise mine at X then I will be do the same for you.

Perhaps these forums are just the best place to get user contributed appraisals.

I am not feeling the love guys. Can you think of other features you have seen or would like?

Well, a couple of suggestions:

1. Where's the "Internet" category? You have "Web design", but that doesn't cover domains, web hosts, etc.

2. I'd like to be able to view/find domains by all three criteria at once: category, tld AND price.

3. It seems that some of the names are miscategorized, e.g. what's jewelryonline dot info doing in the love & relationships category? Isn't that more shopping or beauty & fashion (or perhaps both)?

Can you see anything different on www.FreeNameExchange.com today that you did not see before?
Hey! Nice job on the classifieds...very smooth.

Along with more domain categories as mentioned (fitness, etc.), there's still the problem with the "Price" shoppers see: With the absence of an asking price or BIN, the lease price populates the "Price" field and is confusing...it appears the cost to lease for a year is the selling price.

Anybody got a complete list of categories to add?

I will see if we can make the pricing change so that if no BIN or asking price is filled it, then you only see lease sort of like you see make offer if nothing is available.

Homepage looks better with more content but can't work out how the Classified Domain Listings work - is that free and random or a paid service. If paid I couldn't find the option.

I suggest adding one or more RSS feeds so that buyers can get the data for new domains listed.

I like the site theme and styling in general, good job. However, I feel the site header could be reduced in height as it's hogging space and only adds to the scroll when adding domains etc. :)

Only 5 sales? How long has the site been live?

Auto or "on demand" PR checker that lists the PR to each domain

Domain PR with www. PR without
example: Namepros.com 7 7

this may not be the best idea, i'm basically copying from what "wordsworth" is doing in the available domains thread, he's gaining some major traction by listing dropped PR domains. so it may be something to look into for domains for sale?

The site launched on March 7th as stated in the first post. The classified domain listings works at random right now. It may be made into a paid service if there is enough demand. I will gladly research the RSS feeds.

Can you show me an example of a site using this feature?

Not off the top of my head. I've repeatedly run into sites, such as link directories, that also indicate the PR of a site that's linked to.

I cannot recall a domain sales site that utilizes this feature, though. In turn, this would make you the first one, as far as i can tell.

If I may expand on that thought, including some additional data such as the Alexa rank, Overture term count, Google or MSN total pages, etc. would provide a nice objective comparison capability. Just a thought.

All very good points. Do you know of any sites that offer this tool?

You might want to consider adding an escrow service, for which you could charge a fee. Alternatively, you could link to escrow services and get paid for making recommendations. This would provide a service to your customers and could net you some returns.

Alright, check out the domain details page. I have added a few domain research links.
