I have just acquired Gianna.us (Real Name) which has around 110,000 exact monthly searches.

Do you think it has some value?

Thanks

Names always have some value.

We decided on the name Astrid for a girl and I about crapped myself when Astrid.us was on drop auction at godaddy. I would up paying nothing but I would've paid a lot more... So, yeah, someone with the name Gianna or about to name a kid Gianna would probably want that.

They're (.us first names) difficult to soft market, though, since they don't get type-ins and the only people apt to check whois on them are other domainers.

The value of names is based on potential end user value, which is determined by the popularity of the name itself. The more popular the name is, the larger pool of potential buyers.

GIANNA is the #3132 most common female first name
0.001% of females in the US are named GIANNA.
Around 1225 US females are named GIANNA.

Compare that to a .US first name like "Jeremy" that recently sold at auction -

JEREMY is the #76 most common male first name
0.242% of males in the US are named JEREMY.
Around 296450 US males are named JEREMY

You basically have 296K potential buyers in the US for Jeremy vs. 1,200 for Gianna. Reseller value is not real high. You will need to find an end user.

Also, this is a classic example of why raw search volume doesn't tell the entire story on a keyword, nor strictly arbitrate the value of a domain name.

Apparently, there's a very famous porn star who goes by the single name "Gianna". You can bet that the VAST majority of that search volume is people looking for her content, which means nothing to the underlying value of your name.

With 1M+ people named Paul the likelihood of finding a buyer willing to pay that price is much higher. Paul is also a pretty popular last name as well.

Thanks for all the great information.

I know that paul and jeremy are more popular names but I still think this was worth it considering it only cost me $3.

That's my daughter's name, good one!
I picked Gianna because the name is rare, but you never know, your domain may sell next week.

So say hi to your daughter Gianna :)

But I don't think that Gianna is that rare.

According to behindthename.com. Gianna is in 76th position in "Most Popular Names for Births in the United States 2009", and according to the statistics it is rapidly increasing in popularity.

That's a pretty good sign.

My name is La/ndon. I went my entire childhood, adolesence, teens and early adulthood having met two other Landons.

Suddenly, as an adult, I started encountering a billion little baby Landons.

The year I was born, Landon wasn't in the top 1000 baby names.
In 2009, it was #36, more popular than names like Robert or Steven or Paul.

If Gianna is in the top 100, you're doing very good for $3. The fact that a guy posted in this thread shortly after your making it that his daughter is named Gianna hints at this.

Its true in the sense it will be more easy to find an end user for it
but it just shows Name.us are desirable , Just a matter of finding the Gianna who will want it
