no, as long as you buy a name or renew a name you can purchase any amount of protectfly's. I bought two names added 100 protectfly units to each cart(2 transactions) and ended up getting 200 units of protectfly for zilch. very cool

Now as I register names I can just add protectfly without having to pay.
