It will be greatly appreciated ! for people who may not know; .fr is .france; which is the most popular domain extension beside .com in france

For the english market the value will be very close to reg fee. However, in Europe and particularly in France you might get high $xx to low $xxx.

What if i sell/auction it in the french market would it be worth more?

As I said "in Europe and particularly in France you might get high $xx to low $xxx"...
There are two things that always increase a domain name's value: development and finding the right end user.

I greatly appreciate this ! i was curious about these two domains also since you seem to have some knowledge of the european markets, how much would windturbine.fr and windenergy.fr be worth for

Thanks in advance !

I don't see you getting much if any value from a dot fr for an English word that isn't premium and isn't used in france... you would be lucky to make back regfee.

Hope that helps!

In 2008 geothermal.eu was sold for $387. So, like I said, it depends on finding the right end user.

As for windturbine.fr and windenergy.fr, considering that I am not an expert in any markets :) (just an amateur part-time domainer), I looked into namebio for similar sold names and found this:
windturbine.de 1,958 USD 2011-04-20
windenergy.net 2,555 USD 2011-05-04

So, to make a conservative appraisal I would say you could make mid $xxx, IF you find the right end user. In my opinion, resellers will offer you a lot less, maybe mid $xx...

You are really comparing apples and oranges here.. dot eu is better generally than dot fr and includes the UK which is English speaking. Also, a lot has changed since 2008. For the second two, dot de is MUCH better than dot fr, especially when it comes to English domains. Dot net is generally considered the #2 domain extension and is a global extension, heavily used by English speakers. Your appraisal is not conservative but way off - he would be lucky to get 10% of your appraisal.... and what enduser in France is going to want an English keyword that they don't use and frankly isn't even a huge word in the US?

Thanks,
Stephen

Hello svede!

I understand and respect you opinion. And, of course, I may be wrong in my estimate.

But, if you look into the volume of registered .eu and .fr, they are not that far apart. Also, there is a fair market for English word domain names with country codes, as you can see at Namebio. On the other hand .de is in fact โ€œperformingโ€ much better when registration volumes are considered.

You can register turbineavent_fr which is the translation of the windturbine , :)) if i understand well it's a sort of thing on the roofs of houses ?
