I just read a non domain article in a magazine talking about GEO based restaurants...I realized that GEO is quite possibly the next big keyword. I know domainers often talk about geo domains but how many of us are really building a solid base of them? I have almost none currently. And when I say GEO domains I mean with the actual GEO phrase

i.e. GEOfood.com (taken btw since 1999)

vs. NYCfood.com

So...discuss.

Shows how dumb I am!. I think Geo, and I think Mayland, Alaska, Germany, etc., but not 'Geo'.

No I won't reg any Geo domain names, it's reg fee. But Local is much better like LocalFlorist.com LocalRestaurants.com..... and can add by state as subdomains if build a directory like nyc.localrestaurants.com Looks better than Georestaurants.com

Previous I did too but that's why I started this thread. Geo is imho on the crusp of becoming a popular term. It already has some penetration and with the right push it could be a nice domainers prefix. It's also very generic friendly where you shouldn't have TM problems for the most part. So many available geokeyword names exist too.

Reminds me of the "blook" thread. Everybody and their mother was running around regging blookthis and blookthat. Anyone heard the term used since the hype? I think geo will go down in history just like it and geocities did.

Geo- sometimes can create good category/directory domains. However, geo itself unfortunately is not a keyword at present.

Keyword is usually a targeted word. Adsense PPC/CPC has not shown keyword values for "Geo". Still targeted-areas+keywords are looked for and are preferred.

ChicagoRealestate.com VS GeoRealEstate.com, ...... So many more specific/ targeted+areas+keywords have been used than geo+keywords.

I understand the attraction to BostonJobs.com but what would the attraction be to GeoJobs.com ? Who is searching for that ? would they not put their City or State or Country before the keyword ? Thank you

Exactly.

Geo+service.com ...... I don't like it and I doubt it will be great.

Actual City/County+Service.com is already proven to be successful.

The blook incident ..ugh...don't remind me. I grabbed about 7 or so names with blook...I think I kept one for renewal. I personally just grabbed one single geo name. Blook was imho over hyped but I am certainly not trying to hype geo. I just think it can become a good domainers prefix. I develop sites and blook was too targetted. GEO is open enough that I can create various sites around it.

I always think of the now defunct car company when I think of GEO :)

Reminds me of a friend who had the GEO metro convertable. He thought since it was a convertible it would "help him with the ladies". The funniest part is he was nearly 300 pounds at the time and could barely fit in the thing. If you know the car I am talking about, try and picture it, should be good for a laugh.

isn't that the GeObese model??

or for his chickmagnet model - GeOrgan!!

Whats up with this GEO thing? I still don't get it.

I do however have two names with geo in them, but these are strict technical terms.

photoGEOtagging.com
photoGEOcoding.com

Its new technology that is used for including geographical data in digital imagery or something. I'm glad I have these two names. I registered them when there were some press releases about this being integrated in current technology. Google seems to use it to.

So I don't know if they count, but here they are anyway. :D
