GEO the new keyword

I just read a non domain article in a magazine talking about GEO based restaurants...I realized that GEO is quite possibly the next big keyword. I know domainers often talk about geo domains but how many of us are really building a solid base of them? I have almost none currently. And when I say GEO domains I mean with the actual GEO phrase

i.e. GEOfood.com (taken btw since 1999)

vs. NYCfood.com

So...discuss.

I can remember looking for "Geo" domains as far back as 2001 - 2003, IMHO ... there were none available (which serves as a pretty strong advanced indicator of their demand, in my view)! :gl: :lala:

Another good observation, Mr. Jesse.

I think that generic geo names - as in city, town, country names have more obvious potential than names with the prefix or suffix of 'geo'.

However the 'geo' is still important in terms of development.

I have the following (all com) and hand reg'd

GeoFaq
GeoFreeSpace
GeoAdv
GeoUno (also a surname)
GeoBonds
CarbonGeo
CarbonGeos

StOyen
StOyens
SaintOyen
SaintOyens

If you can find

Upotipotpon

you will know my location approx !!

Lol

Not sure how good if I am that late to the boat. If this was the Titanic I would be drowned.

I think it's time I grab a few geo domains though. I prefer to grab proven domains and get in aftermarket than to hand-reg domains. I have done so much better buying at reseller prices.

Geo Directory / suite of sites!

^ What he said, IMHO (though I still very much like the specific geo-targeted domains/websites (ie., BostonJobs.com)! :music:

NO.

For domainers, it's nice to get excited about something like this, but realistically, this is extremely unlikely to ever be big for end users.

Unless they were searching for

Exactly..I think GEO might be the new iDomain or eDomain. It's a possible prefix where people are starting to use it properly in the media. They don't say geographical...they say geo now. GeoThis GeoThat...

And your example above is exactly how I see the prefix being properly used.

Something like geojobs.com (reg since 1998) would be a phenominal domain to own.

Agreed ... with excellent, regionalized development (local job listings!) and fantastic and continuing SEO for each of the desired local markets (for instance, the example cities referenced above), IMHO. :music: :talk:

Good stuff!

I always think of the now defunct car company when I think of GEO :)

Reminds me of a friend who had the GEO metro convertable. He thought since it was a convertible it would "help him with the ladies". The funniest part is he was nearly 300 pounds at the time and could barely fit in the thing. If you know the car I am talking about, try and picture it, should be good for a laugh.

There is no doubt in my mind that the prefix Geo will be as receptive as the prefixes My, Global, Local and others.

For those interested, here are some other premium available Geo names:

GeoFirms.com
GeoPediatricians.com
GeoStudents.com
GeoCPA.com
GeoBargains.com
GeoIncentives.com
GeoPrinting.com
GeoSalons.com
GeoParties.com
GeoNightlife.com
