I received two separate yet identical email inquiries for the same domain within 24 hours, from a Gmail address, which reads:

Domain Owner,

I am interested in purchasing this domain name, could you tell me if you are willing to let it go and if so for how much?

Thank you for your time.

I find it suspicious and have decided not to respond. Has anyone else gotten this same inquiry format recently?

What was the domain name? I get emails like this 5-10 times per week on LLL.com's.

I always respond, but that's just a personal preference. They are usually from lowballers and do not turn in to sales.

Hey, thanks Jake. It's actually a LLL.net, can't be more specific. My gut tells me "lowballer" and time waster is all it will amount to.

I got one today. The sender is a gmail address, and it was also for an LLL.net.
But the mail wasn't sent from gmail. If you look at the headers you will see it was sent from some hosting server with phpmailer or something similar.
Spam.

I also got one an hour ago for my LLLL.com. I was just about to respond, but now I probably won't.

why not respond? In my experience the longer the email the bigger the scam. The short ones are many times low ballers but in many cases not low ballers. No risk in replying.

I recognize that email template. I've received scads of such inquiries. Never a sale. Never a decent offer. You can respond and see what happens, but don't expect anything. You may not even get a reply.

Always reply to these, it doesn't hurt

2 of my sales ($16K in total) have come from a gmail and a hotmail address with a simple question like "is this domain for sale and if so, how much are you selling it for?"

Never risk losing a sale by not replying, even if you are sure its a scam

when I email buyers that exactly what I write, but I always include a phone number, no one ever calls but I get a good rate of replies

I've never received 2 of the same messages within 24hrs..That does seam a little fishy. Beware and make sure you use an Escrow service like Sedo or Afternic!

Answer, who knows.
You will understand if it's a scam, a lowballer or a legit offer. If you have any doubt, you can still ask here.
