I was reading a couple of articles about Pets Unlimited and their businesses built solely around generic domains like Dog.com - Horse.com - Bird.com - Solar.com - Wind.com - Ferret.com - Fish.com - Garden.com....GreenHouse.com...and on and on :hehe: you get the picture !

Its pretty interesting how they are building forums onto their online stores, what a smart way to draw in extra potential customers with a common interest/hobby and keep them sticking around to buy....a very interesting concept.

One way to take a nice slice of that long established Big Brand Pie and lucrative markets :)

Whats your thought on this ?

If you have the time you may want to read it ??

here's a list of $ growth for the top e-retailers for 2004/05, a few generics in there like Blinds.com - Paper.com - Shoes.com

The forums and blogs being integrated within the main sites ... and as, or perhaps more, importantly than drawing in additional targeted customers / "stickiness"... is very smart becasue the additional and 24x7 activity and page views will help with SEO, IMHO. We see a lot of Real Estate sites now building out blogs and discussion areas specifically for this purpose! :talk:

Good stuff, thanks for the great information Gazzip! :music:
