just filled up my 06 PT cruiser and it cost me $41 its only a 15 gallon tank . I wish I had the money to develop the car I would like to do. I have figured I can get about 75-80 MPG.

I'm so glad gas prices are climbing! It feels so generous digging into my wallet knowing I could be buying a nice domain to resell for the price of a tank of gas. It gives me such a great feeling inside when the price goes higher...

I like it getting higher because I work at a gas station where I pump the gas for the people. I get so many losers coming in buying $1 or less worth of gas. Its not even worth me lifting the nozzle for that little amount.

The same losers come in 20 or more times a night and get $1 worth.

Then lets talk about the losers that come in and buy 1 pack of cigarettes a day then stand there and complain about the gas prices, yet when you tell them if they buy a carton of cigarettes they wouldnt need to drive to the station every day(sometimes 2 or 3 times a day) to buy the cigarettes, they look at you like you are stupid.

I want it so high that one click of the nozzle will put in $5... lol

Oh and since we are the ONLY station in the area that pumps it for you we are always busier than heck and all the idiots do is complain because they have to wait in line to get their gas. How would you feel if you was standing outside for 9 HOURS in the below freezing cold, snow, and 25 mile an hour winds and had people complain because you dont pump fast enough?

One old lady came in side when I was the inside guy for the day and complained that the gas pumper was taking way too long. She thought he should be fired. I asked her if she could pump more than one car at a time when most only get $5 or under in gas... She said yes she could... I told her no way because by the time you start the $5 and run to another car and get the gas cap off the first one would be at $6 or more... She got pissed and insisted it could be done. I offered to let her try it if she would pay if she went over but she wouldnt.

Oh and then we have losers that buy locking gas caps and they only ever buy $5 or less in gas.... I am still trying to get the ower to let us tell them people to go up the street and pump their own... LOL

Yes I work at a gas station/cigarette/cigar store, we pump the gas, nothing else, yet people always come in and ask you to check their oil or to go in to the station and buy them cigarettes. We are not allowed to do this plus we do not have the time. Yet they get pissed and cuss at us when we say we cant do it.

Then you get people like the guy last night. He pulls up and parks infront of the pumps and tells me he doesnt need gas but is going inside to get stuff. I tell him he has to move his car because he cant block the pumps. He gets pissed and calls me every name in the book. Then theres the losers that sit in line waiting for like 10 minutes then they get to the pumps and then it takes them forever to find their money so they know how much they can get and then if they have a locked gas cap... it takes them forever to find the dang key!!!! Why cant they just get all that ready while they are waiting in line?

Also why cant these people put the gas cap key on its own key ring or something? Why must I stand there and fight getting 100+ keys and other junk on the ring into the cas cap area?

i know what your talking about.. my brother works at a BP service station in a rich area..
from all the stories he tells me.. the customers think its his fault for the price rises and think he gets something out of it and they treat him like shit
only cool people are the old ladies he says

Yeah the owner of the place I work at makes a whopping 3 CENTS per gallon. The gas stations are NOT making the money here people its the big oil/gas companies that get the money NOT the local station owner.

Gas is around $2.75 here in Mid-South East Florida. Although I haven't paid much attention to the prices over the last day or so.

Someone asked about electric cars. The reason they never took off is because they had very real limitations like 80 miles on a charge, charge then taking like 8 hours. And people paid big money for that privilege. They weren't very practical. The hybrids are miuch more practical, but they haven't reached their potential of 75-80 miles a gallon as was originally thought.

Zurax, I could see where they should have a minimum purchase for full service, but they are probably worried more about some old lady having a heart attack trying to pump their own gas (though I know many that do), thus creating a more expensive lawsuit situation. But I could see where not having one could lead to abuse of the attendants though, such as the example you gave about buying $1 20 times. There is only one gas station that I know of in this area that still does full service and he charges 10c more for each gallon than the competition. He rarely has anyone in there, but he gets a few.

Got to wonder how far gas will go up. Due to all this talk about Iran and such, oil prices are skyrocketing to $70 a barrel, which means we will be eating it at the pump and the oil companies will make another set of record profits.

Exactly as our President and his cronies want it...

And how does the president have anything to do with it?

They are getting rich and we are getting screwed. We have the technology to get off our oil dependence, but our public policies are not allowing us to do so.

It's the same anywhere.

It's down to the highly lucrative tax raids on oil companies. Not just specific to the US, but the UK and much of the EU too.

It's always Bush's fault. It's Bush's fault that we didn't switch off 20-30 years ago like we could have, don't ya know.

Seriously. The rising gas prices don't bother me. Why? We've been paying artificially low prices for years now and everyone's happy. Suddenly, they edge up and there's a huge fuss over it now that we're paying more because China and India are growing (yeah that's Bush's fault too).

If you want to blame anyone, blame the oil companies that snapped up the patent to the car that got 100 miles to the gallon invented decades ago. You won't hear that one in the news. It 'aint just Bush's fault, either.

If you want cheaper gas prices, stop driving the biggest cars you can find at an auto dealer lot. People don't seem to comprehend the idea that if you start demanding vehicles with better technology then things will change ultimately. Customers drive the market if they work together. Otherwise, if you have a few people over here buying fuel efficient cars and a bunch over there buying gas guzzling hummers, excursions, escalades and so on nothing is going to change and prices will rise as long as you pay them.

Just some things to think about here as MPGs goes...(all 2006 models)

Cadillac Escalade gets 14 MPG city and 18 MPG highway. (2WD)
Chevy Suburban gets 14 MPG city and 19 MPG highway. (2WD)
Ford Excursion gets 14 MPG city and 19 MPG highway. (2WD)

Ford Mustang gets 19 MPG city and 28 MPG highway.
Chevy Impala gets 21 MPG city and 31 MPG highway.

And yes, I'm part of the problem. I drive a Blazer but even my '95 model Blazer gets better gas mileage than any of the common SUVs I listed above (3-4 MPG better).
