Hey everybody,

I'm thinking about writting a game development book for the JavaScript programming language, and selling copys for a low price (probally $10).
It would simply be in HTML format, cause I don't know how to make PDFs . Would you (anyone) be interested in buying a copy?

Regards,
Jamison

Its a very good idea, but I wouldn't pay 10$, unless it is put in .pdf... and setup in a professional manner.

Well I just realized that my dad has Acrobat Reader Professional 6.0 on his PC. I could write the book on that then.

Eh, Seems like a good idea. I bet a lot of people would buy...but a smarter thing to do would to be to sell 100 copies at 2$ a piece rather than selling 20 copies @ 10$ a piece.....What I am saying is lower the price.

Yup. Although it all depends on how much is in the book. I don't want to write the book and have nobody buy it or enjoy it or get nothing out of it.

Same here, I bought a book called:

Game Programming For Teens

@Jamison54

You would have a buyer here if the price was right.

C++ is a difficult language to get into though. I tried myself too. I know the basics of C++ Command Line, but believe me, once you get into GUI & Windows API, it will be very frustrating! I'm not saying back-down now, keep it up! Maybe you'll be more fortunate to learn it then I did. Good luck!

And starting to program in JavaScript is one of the easiest starts a begginner could make, as JavaScript is extremely simple. And once you know the Math concepts involved in JavaScript Game Development, you can easily port over to C/C++, and any other language in fact.

Jamison your probably right, but even though c++ is older i see more of a future init then javascript so im learning it as much as i can now, ive learnt most of the basics, and ive only been doing it a few days. I know theres alot more to it im just gonna keep at it and then move onto opengl. etc etc

Of course C++ has more of a future, because its the most widely used programming language around. Although lots of people are fading towards C#.

Yup! I love JavaScript. Its just so perfect! I even made a Text Editor with HTML/JavaScript (an HTA Application), which I could have never done (at my level) with my low skills of C++.

Oh I think PHP will stick. Its a great language. In fact, I know it too (I know HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL).

don't go bragging until you know flash :).. IMHO there are A LOT of people interested in making games, heck 95% of the people that play them would probably like to make them but once some people buy them they say to other people its a load of junk etc,etc because they don't understand it etc,etc but I would buy it if it was $2.. lol
