We all saw and felt it happening. The 30% commission for boost and not using their name servers was the killer. They didn’t care until Atom and Spaceship stepped up their game. They still didn’t seem to care about domainers until we started moving blocks of names away from their DNS. Even though we’d be punished severely if our names sold at GD/AN but listed elsewhere, domainers made the moves. Momentum seems to be with Spaceship now. Atom is losing their advantage sticking with their 30% commission on premiums.
Agree on all points. I still think there is room for another marketplace, as DAN remains for me the gold standard and none of the current marketplaces have yet been able to surpass DAN.
This seems to be the moment that lots of domainers are looking for the right platform (and are willing to change), and I think Efty should consider making their platform free. They might make much more by the commissions when a couple of domains sell than by having this barrier of charging $60-100 USD a month, certainly when tens of thousand of domains are being added to the platform (@Doron Vermaat ?).
