I think you are on the right track here. I have often looked at this same idea. It is a gamble, but hell, only a $10 - $20 gamble that could pay off huge dividends. I think you should def park these names, if not develop them and sit and see where he goes. I know some NFL players and they tend to buy their names and start their own site when they make it big. This a marketplace that must be hit hard before the athlete makes it big. I think its a great niche and similar to Vegas, but great if you hit blackjack

of course, they could try and legally take the name under cybersquatting laws.

I personally try to avoid trademark based names or famous people's names when buying domains because if the company or individual puts up a fight and wants the domain you will mostly likely lose.
