I'm wondering how many of you have entered into this industry on a full-time basis and whether you are earning enough to maintain a decent lifestyle?

I've included a nice little poll at the top of the page. If you're not a full-time domainer, perhaps you could tell us whether or not you have ever considered domaining as a full-time career?

To all those who are full-time (and even those who are part-timers or hobbyists), could you tell us what areas of the industry you have dabbled in (e.g. brokerage, development, aftermarket sales, working for an industry player (e.g. oversee.net, sedo, a registrar etc)?

Could be quite an informative topic should eveyone choose to contribute. Look forward to hearing what you all have to say :)

I definately look at domaining / developing as a hobby rather than a career of any sort. I don't like the idea of being confined to a computer for long periods of time, I get lonely in my cage sometimes :]

That's actually what I like about domaining. I love the hunt. I sometimes find myself traipsing through the expired list from top to bottom. My mind is bored, my eyes are relenting but I can't stop myself. Before I know it I've got a shortlist of possible drops and no money to buy them with, brilliant :)
*rolls eyes*

I could easily enter into this industry on a full-time basis.

This is a hobby for me. My ultimate goal is development

Part-time (10-15 hrs/week) with focus on both domain resale and development. I have a day job, I own a small but growing software development biz (Metrisoft), and I love domaining.

Domaining is my only income for more than 18 months now. I don't have to babysit it quite as much any more but It's still full time.

As far as your question on maintaining a decent lifestyle: Yes, I take care of family of four quite well. Nice home, Long vacations and fun toys

I'm now part-time. I want to move into full-time development but I lack the skills.

For me its part time. But I just started recently. And I'm more interested in developing sites.

Hobbyist at the moment. Perhaps some day I can combine this and web design together for a full time job.

Was part time for about 2 1/2 years until February this year when I decided to quit my job and go full time domaining. Have been loving it and done quite well. However I've not got much work done in the last month due to moving house and renovating so am beginning to struggle a bit (along with the decline in the economy). Therefore I've got to get back to work and get the ball rolling again.

Part-time for now. I almost took the leap in February, but instead decided to continue to build up some regular revenue on developed sites instead of simply making money through sales.

I'd have to call myself a hobbyist. I register good-sounding/catchy names and like to develop them. :)
