i post you post (*) com

I Post You Post was built for forum creators to be able to swap posts and help build/promote each others boards. We have recently redesigned the site some, as well as added some new discussion areas.

Let me know what you think of the site.

Thanks!

I have been looking at your site. Here's my feedback: The profile section is confusing. How do you update information? The only thing that can be modified in a person's profile is the password. This is especially frustrating since the home page says, "Make sure you have your site listed in your profile and your site may be featured here." You should either make modifications easy or drop the above quote. I'm sure modifications are possible, but I get bored hunting for secret buttons. Ten seconds tops and then I am onto looking for another site that does the same service. I like things obvious. Clicking on profile should be all there is to this process.

One thing I do like is the site name. I POST YOU POST is sticky for my mindset.

Good Luck with it.

I will check back and see what's up with IPOSTYOUPOST in the future. I like the concept and I can see this as being really useful. :)

Great feedback, thanks!! I actually just recently changed that setting. I made it so that you can not access your profile without a minimum of 10 post; which, in retrospect, I should put a notice up. I did this because I had so many people who would come in, build a signature and/or put a link in their profile, and post once, or never; just for cross-linking benefits. So, as a "new member" signing up; would you be turned off if I had let you know in advance that "you must have at least 10 posts to add your signature and link to your profile"? Or, should I just open it back up? By the way 10 is not a set number. I just thought 5 is easy for someone to just throw out 5 posts and then be on their way. 10 seems like it might take a little more posting effort.

I built the site for members to advertise their sites, but I don't really just want 1 time spammers either.

Edit: I knocked it down to 4 posts required. If I get a bunch of 2/3 word posts, I might up this again. However, is 4 still discouraging?

I would definitely not have been turned off if you had a disclaimer. I would have posted ten times or twenty times (or whatever was needed) to be eligible. What I thought at the time while I was on the site was that the site is still buggy (as all sites are in the beginnings). That's why I said that I would check back later. Now I see that I was wrong. :)

I think your concept is wonderful. Everyone who has ever had a forum knows how hard the early days are when the only person posting is the site owner and his/her friends and family. Finding other forum owners in the same position is a sure way to get good quality, early posts. Those beginning posts are essential as I am sure you know.

I would, however, do things just slightly different. The problem is that as soon as you get popular, that link becomes less of motivating. With 365 users, a person might get their link there once per year. With 1,500 users, once every five years. When you get to the size of NP, the website might make it once in a lifetime.

To combat the problem of popularity, I would be harder on who gets to go there.

I would increase the number of total sites in the "Site of the Day" section to six. The top five positions would be for the top forum posters. The sixth position would be for all other users who have posted in the last 30 days (randomly chosen like you have it now). That way, you get some real motivation and competition going. People will be posting just to out post each other and make it to that spot.

After you get bigger, you could then change this up a bit. The top spot could be a random site from people (users) who have posted more than 5000 posts followed by 4,000 posts, 3,000 posts, 2,000 posts and 1,000 posts. The last spot could then be changed to something like, a random site from anyone who posted on the previous day.

This would make people post at least once everyday just to be eligible.

I hope these ideas help. I wish you the best of luck and lots of success. :)

Hello !
I agree with the other's opinion. There are clearly some modifications required. But I did like your website. The content needs some changes.

Best of Luck

Your idea is noble, but what message did you want to deliver with the overall design? It looks like a mock up of a forum so consider changing the aesthetics as the ads and graphics seem bland.
