What am I missing? This was sent to my wife and I don't thing she ever had a Godaddy account. The email body was only text, no graphics or logos. I'm almost certain it's fake. ???

If this is a phishing scam email then is it really wise for you to be doing the scammers work for them by plastering their links all over the worlds biggest domaining forum?

How many domainers are now going to click through one of those links to a fake godaddy site and inadvertedly hand over their account details when they decide to check their watched auctions? If this is fake?

The way to find out if your wife has an account that she has forgotten about is to visit the real godaddy site (via your web browser, after deleting cookies if I were you, in fact preferably from an entirely different machine/device), click forgot username, and enter her email address. That's how you will find out if there is an account associated with her email address.

Can't you just phone godaddy and ask them if it is genuine or not? Or do the forgotten password thing via your browser to see if an account is associated with the email address?

The "parent" domain name in that email is indeed Go Daddy. The sender IP Address, 208.109.14.187, is also theirs after a little checking.

Better contact Go Daddy to find out what's going on.

It smells fake to me, if you can log in to your account DIRECTLY via the GD site let the email drift into the dusty depths of your spam folder and forget about it. Never click links in E-Mails until you can verify it's legitimate.
