Sometime next week we expect to launch a major new product area we are calling "The Domain Name After Market". You will be able to get to it through the GoDaddy.com website or by typing www.tdnam.com into your browser.

Can't wait! I hope he takes my suggestions about making it non-auction!

IMO ~ the name(s) in this case aren't worth anything without the actual site anyway .... I don't get anything from TDNAM other than what Bob is making of his ???
Just my opinion though ~

not a impress by Domain name they have for sell right now. Most of them are big or typo or hypen. May be in couple of months they would have good list. One thing for sure i think godaddy would auction of domian name which are expired on their sytem and make tons of money just like enom. So i think one more registra won't release the good expire name to verisign registry. This means more bad business for us.

I would think GD could come up with a better name than a 5 letter acronym that you really have to think about to remember. Maybe it's just preliminary.

It may appear the names already there are unpaid names they got stuck with on chargebacks something. I sure didn't see anything that looked premium.

The idea is good, but $1.95 to list a single name is a little steep. They should let you list GD registered names, and it might encourage people to actually register their names with them.

After looking it over more thoroughly, it looks very promising. :tu:

I have to agree about the name though. It's a turn-off. They need to find something better.

They were basically trying to copy sedo (selldomain) but their acronym is just far too big! sedo is basic and easy to remember!

Am I reading correctly that the listing fee is $1.95 for each domain?

That's what i see too, $1.95 to list,,$4.95 to be a member,Cheaper than ebay.

but the funny thing is they are so new, they have little google listings and little proper traffic from domain buyers!

So the only names that may sell there would be low ball domains! (for now)

They need some proper traffic, nicer design, so its not all cramped in. Then maybe the listing fee is worth it. Else i say stick with sedo.

$1.95 per domain is way too expensive when you have a portfolio of hundreds of domains to list. I think I'll stick with SEDO and AFTERNIC for free listings. I mean, if I wanted to list my 650 domains, that would cost me $1,267.50 for ONLY 3 MONTHS? Come on 'daddy', what's up with that? If you want to be in the game with SEDO and AFTERNIC, you need to offer free listings like they do. I'd rather pay 10% instead of 7.5% if they removed the individual listing fee.

Just my opinion :)

I think it might actually help some domains sell better in some instances. GoDaddy does some good marketing, so a smaller company that can't find a good name to register, might find one for sale through godaddy. They might not be as familiar with Sedo and Afternic because they don't have superbowl commercials. Guess we'll have to wait and see how they are fairing in a month or two.

I don't know ..... I hate to use alexa for an example - But you can definitely tell when it went live already ~ http://traffic.alexa.com/graph?w=379&h=216&r=3m&y=r&u=tdnam.com/&u=

It is worth considering GDs overall business model which is to encourage use of all the services within its domain sales company. The most important thing is to encourage domain name registration. Therefore if the current GD promotion is to offer domain name registration for $3.99 if another service is purchased, and if the listing sales packages are linked to the other offers on the GD page....then we will see that GD new registrations or transfers or renewals will be available for $3.99 + $1.95 for 3 months listing = ~$6 to try the listing service AND get another wedge of transfers into the godaddy family. Many will use the service and if it is integrated into the control panel, then simple to cancel out. Neat. :imho:

Hi,

I think TDNam.com is about as bad as GoDaddy's backorder program. GoDaddy's backorder program is nothing more than a donation. They are really only able to capture domains that most domainers would not want. Why bother backordering a domain that is not quality?

Godaddy has brought in tons of dollars on backorder fees. I invested in about twenty backorders from them more than a year ago. They have never captured one. The fact that they allow you to replace the uncaptured domain with yet another until you capture one has no value unless a domain is captured. It is a waste of time and money.

I looked at their list of domains on TDNam.com...................Junk!!!

I would never pay quaterly or at all to list my domain for sale.......especially to be thrown in with what GoDaddy is showing.

My hat is off to GoDaddy for always looking for a way to cash in on another dollar. It will just not be my dollar.

Look what they did when they promoted the domain name reseller program. If anyone watched their video.........They said that the resellers would have a great opportunity to succeed because they don't advertise GoDaddy.com and never would. Hello..............has anyone seen their silly advertisements?
It was simply another vehicle to collect $99.00 dollars a pop from the poor guys out there that are desperate to have a internet business, and have little or no money to speak of to start.

Bob Parsons is a great money maker.........for that he deserves credit..........not for the services he is providing. They are not quality. They are cheap. If it is cheap.......it is probably not worth having.

Of course the above is only my humble opinion.

Good thread...........

Cheers,

Showcase
