Planning the break As both the iPOD Touch and the iPhone inherently have the same design, the jailbreak procedure is the same for both. So two jailbreaks at one time J. Before the iPOD Touch can be jailbroken it needs to fulfill certain requirements.

The first thing to do is activate the iPOD. I’ll assume that you must have read the quick start manual, so if have not read it, it will take only 5 minutes of your time. Once the phone has been activated, make sure you have firmware version 1.1.4 on it. If not, update the firmware through iTunes. Keep the sync cable connected to the device at all times. Make sure you have the latest iTunes version that is v7.6 for this purpose. Getting Firmware Click “check for updates” in the summary tab under devices > iPod in iTunes. iTunes will then install firmware 1.1.4 on the device and the iPOD will reboot. Click on the info tab, iTunes will verify firmware 1.1.4 is installed. Now we are ready to hack away.

Jailbreaking Download the graphical user interface version of the Ziphone hack from Zibri’s Ziphone website, choosing your operating system. Click on the downloaded file and let it run and install. If an error message pops up saying it cannot install, then you may need Microsoft’s .Net Framework pack.

The ZiPhone GUI will pop up on the screen. It isn’t necessary to exit iTunes although it may be safe if you do so. Click on the “jailbreak” button on the left and wait. You will see several scrolling lines of text on your iPOD Touch during this process. Don’t worry this is part of the process. When the jailbreak process is complete, you will see a new display on the screen (most probably Zorrow) and the ZiPhone application will indicate that the device has been liberated.

At this point the iPOD Touch will have rebooted and there will be two new icons on the home screen or SpringBoard, namely bookmarklet and the installer application.

Now your iPOD Touch has been jailbroken, but there are still a few more steps remaining. ...................
