Google's CEO told Reuters that mobile phones should be free saying it just makes sense that subsidies should increase as advertising rises on mobile phones.

Google has said previously it expected mobile phone advertising to match computer-based ad revenue over time.

I'm not sure a google monopoly on mobile device advertising is good for .mobi, actually.
They're obviously only onboard because of the untapped potential in that field.
Thankfully, google's movements are not the be all & end all of .mobi's future success.
