Free hosting services have vanished?

hi all might be just me but im developing a website for the first time in about a year and a half and all the old free hosting websites like 000webhost and byethost which i used to use have either stopped running or have changed so you cannot use your own tld and have to use their's instead?

i know there must be loads out there but i just cant find any? grateful for any help

There are some cheap ones but I don't know about free. A lot of the free ones use to monetize with advertisements, that may not be as profitable as it use to be.

that's the conclusion i came to, i searched for about an hour and the only free ones i could find implemented the same principles as wix.com with their own domain suffix's
