Free arcade script! beta!

I'm ready to open a PUBLIC beta of my free version of GameScript after talking a little bit about it last week.

A quick rundown is we give YOU a DB with 1100 games that WE host. just take a look at the demo instead of going on about it: http://www.ianag.com/arcade/free/

As of Right now admin has
- Rename Categories
- Link Add/Delete
- Config settings change
- Basic Add game (No upload currently - grab from remote server or FTP currently)

You guys can look around and see the current end user features

Requirements:
PHP V4.
- Should work fine with register_globals on or off (testing with on)
- Safe_mode or CGI mode are untested currently
MySQL V4
- Should work with 4.0.x but testing done with 4.1.x

SEO URLS only work with mod_rewrite being on with Apache. when you turn that feature off it should work anywhere.

All support requests are to be handled through: http://www.gamescript.net/forums/ PM's, emails, support tickets related to this will be deleted. I don't have the time to field private support for a FREE product.

We plan on setting up data feeds so that you'll be able to get updates with additional games from us and some of the hundreds of gamescript based sites that are out there.

Thanks for the wonderful prodect. Just one question before I start.

I would like to test this with a real domain and everything. I wouldl like to ask how easy it is to upgrade this to paid version later? Also can the domain name be changed later.

the domain name can be easily changed with a quick setting in the control panel.

This system uses a completely new codebase and different templates. At this time there isn't a quick/easy upgrade to the paid version. My next release of the paid version will add external URLs and THEN I'll be able to offer a basic upgrade. really its just easier to empty the DB and do a clean install.

If you want to checkout how easy it is to add games in the paid version this does show a very good example of it.

Please remember everybody that this is a BETA. there will be some pretty major revisions to this version and the paid version in the coming weeks.

The catch is you aren't hosting games locally... When people actually play the game they're going to my arcade. This is also going to be a feature in the future for paid customers (providing game feeds)

The kind of people that are happy with this free version are generally the types that would only be buying the $10 rented licenses anyway. I believe most of the time I'd make more than that $10 if they're sending traffic to my arcade.

The kind of people who are buying the License + Game packs are going to benefit from the game feeds I'm working on setting up

One thing I'd like to ask is the legality of this. The games on your site - are you currently paying royalties to display them? If I pay for the $69.99 games package, will you be paying the owners of those games, or did you make the games yourself...

all of the games in the game packs have ben found on multiple free arcades and places that encourage the distrobution of the games the majority of them have ads in them.

We to this day have not received a single removal request from developers. We've been doing this for quite a while so that says alot

What I'm selling is the INSTALLATION of the games complete with descriptions and other DB information inserted so the customers can quickly add 1k games.

About the free version: haven't had any bug reports yet... Can I get some feedback?

are only a few more sites that use the default template.... there's hundreds of sites out there using this template. Most GameScript customers stick with default template.
