Check out "Antivir Avast" - its another free antivirus. very good one, better than AVG IMO

Avast is brilliant as it updates itself.

I'm using Microsoft Onecare at the moment. It takes hardly any ram/cpu.

Avast is great. I stopped using AVG when it let a nasty virus through.

Though I know that all make mistakes, that kind of made me turn to avast.

Doesn't really matter what you got :P Viruses will still get through. It is the nature of there programming. Most viruses infect as-soon as they are opened or executed. They tend to not do anything else. Personally I find programs with updated themselves a waste of bandwidth, ram, and CPU. AVG isn't a bad one Avast I found to be a horrible CPU & RAM abuser.

My computer doesn't even have virus protection.

(Virus protection does nothing if you don't got something guarding your register and other important DLL files needed by Windows. So personally I find having an antivirus software to really be a waste or stuff. Unless you combat it with a network security type thing like Kaspersky, Norton (LOL.. Don't get this.. It just sits and sucks RAM and CPU lol), Mcafee (Ugh.. Can't say anything good about this), BitDefender (I guess it's name says it all), And more :)..)

Remember you get what you pay for. Paying $200 for Norton is actually a waste of money unless you know how to control it.

My suggestion for a free anti-virus program is take the beta testing route. Kaspersky has 6.0 out for beta testing. I do recommand it. It can be downloaded at there website. http://www.kaspersky.com/beta .. I find beta programs are actually better than the real programs due to the newer technology.
