There is nothing more terrifying than an earthquake!

I was in Greece on holiday in June last year and an earthquake measuring 6.2 on the richter scale hit us. I remember looking up at the air fan whizzing round on the roof of the restraunt we were in thinking it was gonna fall and cut my head off :hehe: ill never forget it...

It's definitely something you have to experience before you die :hehe:

Earthquakes are no big deal. I grew up in So Cal and slept through the Northridge 6.6 in 1994 -- a mere 20 miles from the epicenter.

Ya just get used to them.

yea, not big deal there where you are pretty much on a fault line, but in the uk, they are very rare.

I was out last night, and so didn't feel it (mainly due to loud music and alcohol) :(

I was up at the time it happened.. and two UK'ers I was chatting too said they felt it.
I felt nothing, and I live in the south east (a little way off of London).

And mellow is right, UK buildings aren't made for any natural disasters, such as tornados or earthquakes.

I guess that makes sense...I'd imagine there's a lot more focus given to seismic event preparedness in So Cali than in the UK.

I just heard about this on the news about an hour ago. Luckily, where I live, there hasn't been any earthquakes & the likelyhood of it happening is extremely slim.

It is so weird to hear stuff like this.
I mean , i don't live far from england (belgium) and think that this is very terrifying , since
these things are not common , surely not on a scale like that.
