I have never been able to work out if forwarding a domain helps or hinders its sale.

I publish a blog which currently has around 400 topics. I own some domain names that are relevant to specific topics on that blog - country name for example.

I forward those domains to the relevant topic label using masking to enable me to use the meta tags (again, I am not sure if that is actually of any benefit).

If I am trying to sell a domain either through a broker or through here, would a buyer be deterred if they checked the name and landed on a related "topic" page of a blog? Or would it add value?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks in advance!

I think that it may add a little value, but not much. It is better than having nothing there or a parking page. The best would be to put up a small minisite that says says this domain if for sale and has a few small articles so it gets small amounts of traffic from Search Engines.

I'd think the worse it would do is not add any value. Having a domain that is a little more established is better than one that isn't. It would be more conducive to have it going somewhere, perhaps even providing a small negotiating tool. You never want to make it look too obvious you want to sell when you're dealing with end users. If someone wants/needs the domain enough, they'll check into it.

Hi Brian,

Many thanks! With the domains that match topics on the blog, I prefer forwarding to parking - I get very little revenue from parking in any case!

Much appreciated

Hi CrazyTech,

Many thanks for the advice, it is much appreciated. You confrmed some of the things I had thought, but wasn't experienced enought to know if I was on the right track. I also have a few ads on the blog that target a specific demographic, so that can also sometimes be an added bonus.
