Forum, forums? - No - ? Questions

hello, I am interesting in buying some domains to make a site for and sell, namely forums. I have a few questions

Say it was going to be about Thomas the Tank Engine, which would be better.

(as you can see I've changed it from forums to forum and removed the hypen). BTW: I don't want to make a Thomas the .... forum

Anyother advise about buying a domain for a forum? I may have more question - but first I need to have a shower as I smell after going paintballing today - not that you probably wanted to know that. :yell:

Well the general consensus is that forum is better than forums. I don't necessarily agree with that perspective (since I think both are equally as good) but that's the general feeling I've noticed. I'd also recommend staying away from hyphens unless absolutely necessary. However, I've had a few hyphen domains (a nice one at that) and I currently run one forum with a hyphen soley because the unhyphenated version would set me back hundreds of dollars whereas the one I have only cost me about $10.

That being said, thomasthetankengineforum.com is the best domain from the above list in the given situation.

Other advice would be don't forget that if forum/forums is taken then you can always go to the alternatives - discuss______.com, talk______.com, ________talk.com, ______discussion.com amongst others.

Since both of the following domains are available, I would go with either of those:

thomasthetankengineforums
ttteforums.com

I like forums as a plural, unless of course you only plan on having one single forum on the whole place.

Forums are usually better than boards, but if you have to I would go with boards. Sometimes boards "sounds nicer", too.

With a 3 letter subject (IE. GBR = Gunniess book of records) would you still not get it hypinated?
