Ok, here we go. I have designed a web site for a local festival and site is done and they like it. The only problem is, it was designed for a 1024*768 res,, bad move. Is there a code anywere that will make you to change your res, or automaticly change, it when you go to the site, I really dont want to recode this site, as there are 40 pages of code, and this would put back the opeing drasticly.
Any Help would be great.
Thanks in advance.

no not that I know of but in all honesty even if there is some way of doing so I would highly recomend not doing so. I know for a fact I would not be happy if a site I went too started playing around with my settings.

Javascript etc are confined to the browser and are not meant to be able to influence things outside of its environment.

No, you really cant automatically change someones computer configurations from a website, that would actually be pretty bad. I know I wouldnt want my scree resolutions changing everytime I visited a different page. What you could to is have like an entry page displaying the users screen resolution and if it is less than 1024x768, display a message saying the site might not display properly and that it is recommended that the user have a resolution of 1024x768 or higher.

I would have to side with gamex. You cannot do that. That would be bad, and lead to bad things. :!:

Wow, talk about overkill! Technically, the answer is yes. You could create an object that calls ChangeDisplaySettings and add it to each page. There are two main problems here. First, it will piss people off, so they will hunt you down and kill you. Second, a lot of people who run a different resolution do so because they can't display 1024x768. Your site will cause their display to go wacky, your code would be classified as a virus, and the FBI will hunt you down and kill you.
I think your effort is better spent looking at how you can fix your site. I get projects like this all the time where it would take weeks, even months to do it manually, but the solution is done quickly and simply with a bit of clever coding. If you want to send me the link I'd be happy to take a look at and and give you some ideas.
