Find the javascript to do it (google for it) or go here : http://www.hypergurl.com/bookmark.html

the function that gets called just needs to be put into your body's onload tag (in this case addToFavorites())

That should do it.

I would NEVER go to a site that has a bookmark script run every time the page loads. That is horrid advice. I would get nagged every time the I visit the site! Put ot on a button or link but NOT in the onLoad event.

I think it's great advice. He asked how to do it, I told him how. But it looked to me that he was trying to create a page that would do the bookmark and show something like a success message...

i tried to make it to add the site automaticly when the visiter enter the favorites addition page

You have to put the script in the head section of your page, and in the body's onLoad event put the function call. You could also much better do this with a simple button or link that says "add me to your favorites" and do it in the button onClick event..

Post your html, I'll help here.. or PM me.

in the javascript, remove the "alert( ...) " function call...

that'll prevent the message

I don't think you can do it completely without the users knowledge... that's a function of the browser, and I'm sure by now they would have patched any vulnerability like that, atleast in modern browsers.

Good luck though

I think there is a way, Ive made it work before, but it wouldn't work universally. This sounds like fun, I'm gonna see if I can remember how I did that. Maybe IE has been changed since then, but if i figure it out I will let you know.

Yeah, I know there was a way to do it, but I believe it was a vulnerability of the browser that allowed it... like I said, this seems like something that would be patched by now... but hey, if you figure it out, let me in on the secret too.. ;)

As for making it run when it's not the users startpage, I dunno. To do that it would require you to be able to find out what the users start page is, and I'm not sure you can do that... you're reaching into areas of altering the users software settings with script, and those, atleast in my mind, are things that should absolutely prompt the user or be prevented.

Good luck with that one too..

OK, I got it to work. Kind of.

I think with a lot of tweaking it would work better. Basically, it's limitations are; viewer has to allow activex scripting, viewer has to be the main account on his computer (this one isn't true if you wanted to put the favorite on every single account on the computer) and viewer must be using IE. If these things are true then it will work perfect :). I would only use this script if I wasn't telling the viewer that I was doing it. Otherwise, I'd give it about a 30% chance of working overall and a 50% (60% if you put it on all accounts) chance of working on IE.

It isn't a vulnerability, just plain old javascript coding through activeX controls. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to post the code, so if you want it; PM me and I will be happy to let you play with it ;)

It works on my computer!
