Hi guys, I have a domain named: Footballmaze.com could you tell me if it is wort something or if there is any possible value in that domain?

$0, unless you can find someone that's willing to build a website with a maze in the shape of a football... but that is a very specific niche.

Let me guess, you saw the word football and though "cha-ching", right?

That's the problem. You have to look at the whole picture. While I admit, FootballMaze sounds like a very brandable name, when you think about it, what are the chances you can design a product around it? Can you play football in a maze or can you make a game where you play football in a maze?

You might be able to put up a site where you have tons of masses that are all shaped like footballs, but I don't see that getting popular enough to monetize.

I think in terms of money when I reg a domain name.

That said, there are always folks on Sedo and Flippa who have money to burn. List it and see what you can get. Anything more than reg fee is better than nothing.

I understand you guys mainly think about commercial or physical product selling on a domain, but since I have more experience building websites, I tend to evaluate a domain based on whether a content website or a community could be created on a domain name, which if developed properly can have an added value and selling price over time.

I have a few other domains that I am wondering about, but I will probably post in a separate thread for them.

I have experience building websites too and I always ask myself, "If I couldn't sell this, would I be able to build something on this name?" and if the answer is no then I don't definitely don't buy it.

If you're going to spend the time to actually build something out, then you want to build it on the best name possible.

The problem with your name is that there are a 1,000 better alternatives than your name. Football -chat -catch -community -forum -talk -etc all make so much more sense than maze.

So do I. When I give an opinion (aka an appraisal) of a domain, I mainly look at what it could be developed for and if it could be profitable.

Please share with us what ideas you had you when you regged that domain. You have my curiosity peaked now. It quite obvious that the rest of us only see 2 words that can't be related for a profitable brand /site. But obviously you have a different idea. What is it?

Sorry, I didn't mean to argue, really. I am new to trading domains (I was selling websites so far), so I trust your expert opinions and advice you gave me. I just shared what were my thoughts, when I registered the domain some time ago.

The domain isn't the best out there, I understand that. The name was just something I registered when I needed a football related domain and thought there could be some potential to build a website on it. Maybe it was a mistake as I am fairly new to domaining.

Anyway, I will wait and see if It turns out any profit in future whether as domain or a website.

I was planning to create a content based website with football news, player info, matches live updates, etc.. and then either monetize it or sell it later. That was basically my plan for the domain and I currently work on adding content to the site. I was just wondering if the domain itself has any selling value, so I asked here your expert community for advice.
