Working on a video sharing social networking site,

My question is whether or not to go with a full flash site eg: MTV.com
or perhaps go with a hybrid site using flash for the the links etc and html/php for the rest...

We will be usng php software for the social networking scripts but I do have someone who can programme it into a full flash site if I go that way.

Has anyone here got any experience or opinions with a full flash site....are they harder to maintain and upkeep??

any user experience would be appreciated...

thanks

I would say keep flash just where it's necessary, since that will make the site available to more users who don't have flash, and from what I know (not too much) your site will be easier for search engines to find in html, as they can't follow flash links.

thanks lee I keep hearing the same thing from pretty much everyone I talk to, but decided today to basically throw caution to the wind and go full flash, if this development works it works, search engines or not....

Thanks for the reply.

doing that kind of pushes you into a wall, alot of computers can't handle flash ;) meaning your not going to be much traffic if there computer can't load a full flash site, you should keep with html/php and use the flash for the things you really need it for :hehe:
