Picked this one up for $5+Reg in a GoDaddy auction closeout today. Seems a good name for an SEO-related site. Appraisals please!

Very nice. But Googs might take it off you.

Yes, my plan was to sell it and leave that problem for the end-user - though of course the sale value might be reduced if buyers are worried about losing the domain. I did check on sedo before buying it, and they seem happy to list domains containing "google" (currently some 6,000 of them, including googledocs.com). Someone sold googlemail.nl for $1,150 on sedo in 2006, according to NameBio - it's still parked.

So you want to sell a name that you know has TM issues to some unsuspecting buyer? Wow, you are going to be real popular around here.

Just so you know, you can also be sued for having sold that domain.

OK, maybe I made a mistake - I'm new to this business, and I believe the purpose of this forum is to learn

My reasoning in buying the domain was: (1) I'm not going to monetize the domain myself, so I don't have much to lose except the reg fee (maybe not true if the buyer can sue me for more than they paid??); (2) there are lots of domains containing TMs for sale on sedo, and people seem to buy them; (3) there are plenty of domains in use such as http://paypalsucks.com, which haven't been shut down; (4) Any serious end-user would be aware of the legal issues in monetizing such a domain, so the market should be self-regulating. That's what I meant when I said it's the end-users problem - I wasn't suggesting that anyone should be conned.

That does not absolve you from possible issues.

In about 4 days form today go on google and type >> FirstOnGoogle.com Or want to be first on google

and 8/10 it will bring you to this thread that you have just started.

When I buy domains one of the things I do is type the domain Im buying on goolge and find any history on the domain. So if anyone EVER buys your domain they will now that its a TM domain plus that you only got it for £5+reg.

My advice is get rid of it Bro.

P.S I appraisal it at -£750 (court fee)

- (minus) the court fee and maybe what assests you may own. Don't mess with big corporations with their own high paid legal team, unless you are big corp with your own legal team that gets paid better.

my impression of the thread is op (1) wanted to profit from google's tm by way of ads, (2) he wanted to earn on the sides by doing seo services on google , (3) he wanted to profit by selling it to end-users and let them have problems as long as he's earning money no one can stop him.

I think you are correct in all counts. This type of domainer is what gives a bad name to domainers in my opinion.

The problem other than TM is any SEO expert (i use the term loosely) promising 1st place on Google is a scam. Google know who these cronies are and are penalised accordingly.

I remember being on Google webmasters forum when one of these SEO experts came into the forum crying foul they had been penalised, for the second time in two years.

The quote on the front page of their website was, "we have an unblemished record of SEO exellence and guarantee you the no1 search result on Google" It was quite funny actually.

Good domain name for newbie web builders, but still have to agree with some of these posts here. Developement of this domain name by any party would result not only in a financial loss (quote reference), but TM issues as well.

go fish and better luck next time.
