How do you find the password to a mysql database/username?

I always end up making a new one (ie make a new forum and start over) cause i forget what the mysql password is.

And is there a way u can transfer the data from one mysql to another (with different passwords/usernames/database name)? (whenever i do a backup and unload it on another database, my forum gives me mysql errors)

Thanks!

Can't you just create a new user, then give that user full access to the mysql db? Resetting the root mysql password would be something else.
