What made Dan.com so great?
Let's list all the things in remembrance.
Curious to learn their secret sauce in the eyes of domainers because nothing they did seemed that impressive, from a technical standpoint.
Let us know!

1.
Customer Support that was light-years ahead of anybody else in the domain industry:
I remember reaching out to Laszlo here on NamePros for a sale of about $250 or less that I was having an issue with. He assisted by taking the issue back to their platform and handling it positively and promptly.
For such a small commission, the level of CS was superb. If GoDaddy had such a CS, it'd be locked behind a paywall of DDC Pro Max Ultra or something like that.
2:
Super-low Commission:
At the time, GoDaddy/Afternic was lobbing 20% off every sale when their services belonged in the Paleolithic Era. Dan.com offered the best service with the lowest commission—9% or 5% if you brought your own lead.
The current Afternic reduced commission of 15% is the legacy of Dan.com. That's Dan taking care of domainers even in death.
3.
Super-fast Self-brokerage Platform:
Nobody comes close to this. Their negotiation platform was fast and efficient like no other.
On one occasion, a potential buyer and I entered into a negotiation frenzy that was essentially a bidding war. It was fast, fun and rewarding. We closed the deal the same day the first offer came in. It did not stall. There were no dawdling brokers.
4.
Various Payout Options including Crypto:
It's 2025 and most platforms still don't support Crypto payouts. They still have it "in the pipeline". For GoDaddy/Afternic, I suspect that pipeline has not even been built.
To have that option as far back as 2019/20, Dan.com was ahead of its time. A true pioneer in every way.
5. I
nsanely SLEEK Landers:
Their landers were sleek and smooth. No noise, unless you want it. No potential of a visitor to the page being "confused".
Plus, you could add logo and description to the landing page of individual domain names IF you wanted. No extra costs!
Their landers were so good, GoDaddy STOLE it after executing Dan.com. That's another legacy of Dan—the Landers. They're still looking after domainers even in death.
Dan.com was a KING amongst platforms.
Shame they got hit in Daddy's drive-by.
