Hi all!

I have tried to do a transfer from one server to another of my phpbb. I backed up the first phpbb (full backup, .sql) and tried to restore it to the new installation. Everything said it went successfully from backup to restore, but nothing actually changed! There was no restore!

The backup db was only 279k so filesize shouldn't have been a problem. I have phpmyadmin on the new server - is there a way to add it all in manually?

I'd have posted on the phpbb forums, but they have this one huge thread so it's impossible to get answers to anything...

Any help would be appreciated!

you could open up the backup sql and copy and paste into phpmyadmin table by table, I could restore the database for you for 100NP$ :P

How do I know which tables? It was all an automatic installation to begin with.

If you can let me have access to your CPanel (or phpMyAdmin) I can do it for you for free.

The problem is I am running it on my computer - I am using the phpbb system to manage and organize an extensive project I am working on. I'm transferring the boards from my host to my desktop pc (I have php, sql, phpmyadmin and apache on my desktop).

Is there something I'm missing about backing up and restoring phpbb?! Why won't it work?

[edit] I figured what happened, now I need a little help in fixing it. Apparently for the first installation I had "phpbb2_" as the prefix for the tables, and the new installation is "phpbb_" - how do I go about fixing this?

Thanks!
