Hi All,

I'm opening this thread following some confusion found here around F1 domain names. Domain names containing "F1" are allowed if used for fan sites or news sites. We own around 40 .com domains (F1LL.com) as:

F1Lt.com
F1os.com
F1we.com
F1ui.com
F1io.com
F1nt.com
F1pn.com
F1og.com
F1wn.com
.... etc... (if interested in full list please contact, we are of course open to offers)

Our Permitted Word Marks cannot be incorporated into or registered as domain names for commercialised websites. Use within domain names for non-commercialised websites (e.g. fan sites or news sites) may be tolerated at our discretion.

Our Permitted Word Marks may be used after a domain name as a sub-domain name so long as the use does not make any unauthorised association with third parties. For example, “www.racingfanatic.com/formula1”

Please read the link info, it's clear "ANY" of their trademarks can be used under these rules, "Formula1" contained as part of domain name or as AFTER domain as "something.com/Formual1" its OK.

What's the point of buying all these names if you don't develop them into fansites ?

It's a serious question, what's the point of buying these names, who is going to buy them ?
Your domain names are for sale, thus they do not qualify for the good faith use "tolerated at our discretion".
Selling or parking domain names is a commercial activity.
F1 have filed (and won) several UDRPs. Since you say you've bought 40 such names, it's not hard for them to demonstrate there is a 'pattern of bad faith' and TM issues.

I wouldn't go near a F1 domain personally, F1 are really aggressive with their trademark, i even remember reading F1 was going after people's social media accounts who had 'F1' in their username.

Completely wrong, you hold wrong information, F1 filled against the improper "use of them" and against "them". My question is also a serious question, and we are in the "Discussion" side, so who defines how many apples I can have in my store and who define how many apples customer buy, probably you were educated based on assumptions and some news. You have legal sources, I provided you the legal F1 guidelines. To answer your question, another question "where is our bad faith ?" how many pounds/kilos you use to measure ? where are your sources ?

We should educate, people reading this should fundament their sentences, legal url info is exactly on my post, please restrict your comments to it or provide legal cases and clear court statements.

Exactly, same answer as provided to Kate, it's the misusage of it, F1 brand do it right, people usernames including F1 associated to bad conduct lead to it.

It's very simple. Your domains are listed for sale, they are not fan sites. Even fan sites using their brand names are barely tolerated. You are not abiding by their rules, even your opening post makes that clear.

F1 have filed and won UDRPs against people who just owned F1 domain names. Your case is no different.
Now the big question, could F1 stand for something else than Formula One ? You are very aware of the F1 brand. You mentioned F1, not us. And you bought dozens of such names (aka the 'pattern').
Even if there were no obvious TM issues, there is no value in these domains.

Relevant UDRP search: http://www.udrpsearch.com/search?query=f1&search=domain&start=1

Again, wrong assumptions, the UDRPs are well known and all them are clear about the misusage, some even mix two brands, mistakes.
As I posted and reason why I open this discussion was to clarify they are allowed for the purposes described in the F1 guidelines, period, it's allowed, period.

Regarding the domains F1 we hold, YES we can be open to offers to some if we decide our project doesn't need them.

Again, assumptions we have a pattern to buy/sell are once more answered in previous reply. If the domains have no value or not, what's the matter for the discussion here ? what's the purpose ? The explanation is given by F1 on their own website. Discussions ?

I've seen fan sites using F1 with disclaimers like

"We are in no shape or form affiliated with formula 1"

Welcome To NP

Domain names containing "F1" are allowed if used for fan sites or news sites.

You have already indicated bad faith by putting them up for sale. You start with the line about creating "fan or news" sites, but you arent doing that, you are trying to sell them which is benefiting financially from the F1 trademark. You have to read up more on how trademarks work.

Even if you we werent infringing, there is no value in these names. You can't just add some random letters like IO, UI, NT, PN onto the end of F1 and expect them to have value.

Regarding the domains F1 we hold, YES we can be open to offers to some if we decide our project doesn't need them.

Contact F1 and ask them if this is ok to sell F1 domains. Im sure yoyu know the answer

You have only registered these names in the last 6 months, always ask yourself "Why were these names available?" There is a reason for this.

Cut your losses on these names and move on.
