We understand. It's less explicit in this instance, but for all intents and purposes, "visit domain.com" is essentially the same as "http://domain.com" as far as the rules are concerned.

We will add this as an example to the rules to help avoid any misunderstandings in the future.

Thanks.

What is the fear? It's like circle advertising. Just read the rules. You can only link back to the same site you're posting on. Chat on Namepros, can only link back to thread on Namepros. Kind of redundant. Why not being able to link out? Auction at Flippa, Namejet etc? It's the same as taking out posts to external auctions from New Posts. That's not domainer friendly. It seems there is some fear linking out to external sites, but you're ok with only linking to Namepros.

"By posting the link, asking others to visit it and buy it is considered advertising. "

You guys are fine with people pretending to be interested in discussion, when new threads are started solely to advertise their own domains. Even the exact same thread, see recent "hand reg" discussion threads. 2 of them started to promote one's own domains.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

There are specific areas where we allow it, but for everywhere else (including the chatroom), it costs money to promote external websites on NamePros.

NamePros is free to use (we even promote auctions on NamePros across the entire website for free) and that is made possible by advertising.

Please contact our advertising department if you're interested. Otherwise, we hope the rules are clear.

Thanks.

Thanks. Actually, some people have figured out free methods, like the one I described above. Members can promote external websites for free, just by starting "discussion" threads, even for every new hand reg. No need to pay, when you can use free methods that you guys allow.

We encourage showcase threads, but we will remove posts if we see that they're blatantly promotional.

Yes, it can be used to promote domains (which may or may not have websites on them), but it only violates the rules once it becomes blatantly promotional (e.g., the post contains "visit" or "for sale"). Otherwise, it serves as a collection of domains that people are buying (regardless of why the domains were shared), which is information that readers can learn from.

We understand that it can be confusing at times, and that's why we always use a reminder warning (0 points) first. That gives us an opportunity to better explain how it works before it ever affects anyone's account.

Not talking about showcase threads, I've even posted in those. Plenty of legit threads here at Namepros to post your domains in. That's different than people starting multiple hand reg discussion threads for the sole purpose of promoting their domains. Somebody starting a thread, pretending they're interested in discussion, when it's really just used as a vehicle to promote their domains. That's been allowed here. We just disagree on that one.
