Extension into the future?

Is it me or am I correct about a thought I just had. The only reason more extensions keep coming out is because the .coms .nets .infos etc etc etc are getting full with the typical one, two, three words combos. So in order for all the registras to stay alive and remain in business is to come out with more extensions?

I'm sure some of you already thought about this, but the thought just now crossed my mind. How many extensions will there be in 10 years? How many made up words like weblopedia will exist by then? I wouldnt count out that .xxx just yet

That said, I'm sometimes blown away by some of the domain names being sold every week. The weirdest names are selling while basic good one worders stay for sale.

The reason more extensions come out is because it's easy money if you manage one. Lets say you pay $1 million to set it all up. If you charged $25 a year at initial launch all it would take is 40,000 registrations to make your investment back. .eu did million+ a day on initial launch. So even the obscure extensions is easy money back. From there on out the only people you have to support is a handfull of registrars and the infrastructure.

The world of business is all about supply and demand. I mean lets say you have a town and all the prime real estate has been bought and is being used. If there are still a large number of buyers without their plot of land or house then developers will frequently develop a new town or area for those buyers to invest in. Isnt it more then normal then that something growing so fast as the internet is looking for ways to accommodate all the demand that is out there and that is expected in the futire. I see nothing wrong with it. If I open a new company then it would be hard to find a really good dot.com domain unless i pay big bucks. I would prefer to look into getting a .biz or .us and get a domain which i can work with.
