Why can't we provide a domain for $0.13 each? Once again China has made something for cheaper :/.

I knew they had .CN out for a while, just asking why we can't do the same.

At those prices they make .info look expensive.

I've seen them at 0.03 a piece but you need to come up with $500 or so to get the discount and I'm not even sure its legit. I use Dynadot or iDotz.net.

Hurley,

Your question is very valid...Verisign has a contract that enables them to fix the price..

It is a monopoly at this point and very disappointing that .com domains administation are not opened to bidding to drive price down...

The prices are headed in the wrong direction at this point with increases coming in every year...

Well, first of all there's the 20 cent ICANN fee...added to the domain's cost.

When GoDaddy made a bid to take over .COM and .NET a couple of years ago, they claimed they could offer domain registrations for something like
$2 or $3 and still make a profit.

At least one other Registrar bidding stated somewhat the same.

That's not 6 cents or 13 cents but better than what we're paying now...and will be next October.
