Ok, EuroDNS is really taking domain registration to a new level!

We finally thought the registration process of our .asia domain was on track, our domain status changed to "Registration in progress" a couple of days ago, but today we received a new slap in the face. Just to give you guys some info, here is our entire domain registration process so far.

March 27th, 2008 - We submit the first and only registration for a .ASIA domain.

March 27th, 2008 - Status of registration - "Ready for submission"

March 28th - April 1st, 2008 - No changes to the domain status, I sent them a email but they wrote stuff totally NOT related to my questions.

April 1st, 2008 - Registration status of domain is changed to "Registration in progress"

April 2nd - April 4th, 2008 - Email exchange with support trying to figure out what's going on. They wrote this: Names that received multiple applications during Sunrise or Landrush appear to be available according to the asia whois, but they are not and will be acutioned half April. You find a list with all names that recived multiple applications here: http://www.registry.asia/info/DotAsia-DomainsWithMultiApps--2008-03-13.txt. You can check if the name you want will go to auction or not. Names that are not in this list and are available according to the whois you should be able to register via our system."

April 4th, 2008 - Registration status of domain is changed to "Domain already taken during Sunrise/Landrush. Waiting if it gets avaible again for GoLive."

That's where we stand today. Now, I may be wrong but if I haven't lost my mind completely during this process, GoLive started on March 26th, 2008? I want to know where they come up with this crap! The domain is available and ready for registration everywhere, godaddy, moniker, fabulous, etc.

What on earth is their problem? Has anyone experienced any similar problems when trying to register a .asia domain?

I am really starting to loose my patience!

Yeah, I also think they don't do support work on the weekends. I've got 2 unanswered support mails waiting since Wednesday & Thursday, nothing. Talk about lagging behind compared to the competition.

Several domains that they never submitted disappeared from my account about a week ago without any communication from them - a slightly alarming system imho. I emailed them about this and got the very helpful reply that I would receive the refund 'in days'.

That was about 6 days ago. I haven't received a refund or any update about what's going on.

Update:

I received a response to the email I sent last Friday, here is their reply.

Dear Customer,

strage tht the domain is not on the list, but we get this info over the eep directly from the registry.
But if noboday bids the domain is going in the the go live again.
This means the domain can be registered normal

best regards,

#1 - What's up with the writing?
#2 - I still don't understand how my domain can't be registered when it isn't listed in the asia registry list of domains that had multiple applications in the landrush/sunrise period.
#3 - What's eep?

Am I way out there or is EuroDNS completely incompetent? Should I call the .asia registry myself?

I've been buying domains for 14 years, this is by far the worst registration process I've ever experienced.

The whole .Asia registration process seems like a mess.

Yes, I agree with you.
Everything seems to be in a disarray and somewhat chaotic.

It seems to me like the entire .asia process is a mess. I was told that if the domain we wanted wasn't in this list -> http://www.registry.asia/info/DotAsia-DomainsWithMultiApps--2008-03-13.txt there wouldn't be any problems and we could go ahead and register it right away.

Yeah right, we've tried and tried, but nothing happens. We've sent a complaint to the .asia registry about their lame and incompetent registration process. I don't care how many applications they have to handle, if they can't deal with all the fuzz, they shouldn't be in this business in the first place.

For all I care, just give us our stupid domain and lets forget about .asia. We just need our domain for brand protection!
