I spoke to a rep at Godaddy regarding .eu domains.
He told me that once I purchase them, I cannot sell them.
Godaddy cannot change the domain name owners for .eu, .co.uk and .de, according to him.

For .com, .net etc it's no problem.

If that is true, aren't we stuck with the .eu domains we purchase through Godaddy?

Any Godaddy rep here?

Thanks

Oh no.

If worst comes to worst we could 'rent' the domains by setting nameservers. However, I highly doubt that you can not sell eu domains...

The transfer procedure for .eu domains is not very different from transferring .com domain: the same e-mails and confirmation codes. So i also doubt that it is hard to set up.

Hi, I also want to know the requirement of the registration because I heard only EU residents could register them? Is that right? Thanks!

Yes, it is. You can read all about .eu at www.eurid.eu. Information from First Hands :)

The chances of not being able to transfer out a .co.uk or .eu domain are very low. Personally, I think that GoDaddy has some very poor quality staff (and some good representatives, too). I think that the original poster ended up speaking to one of the bad ones.

Hmm... so if residents of Europe only can register .eu domains, how does that effect selling domains on? Can they only be sold to EU residents too? :o

PS, i've transferred .co.uk domains to other people with GoDaddy before, it didn't allow changing of the owners name though - had to leave that the same and the new owner then had to update it when the domain was in his/her account.

ASS - yes, of course. Just like you can only sell .us domains to US citizens.

Ah, i'm a domain-novice so I didn't know that about .us domains :D Bit of a bummer, but I guess it makes sense.

Not true.

What's not true? EU names can be sold to non-EU residents? Or are you talking about .US?
