Recently We have been seeing a major demand rising for Eth.extension domains.

It was seen for Metaverse-cannabis-cbd or NFT keywords earlier. But these keywords were newly popular & trending when their domain sales skyrocketed. Those domains were trending sales at the same time they were becoming overnight popular on the market.

But for eth.extension, it is a bit different. Eth has been popular for many years, just after a few years of rising of bitcoin.
But the sales of eth.extension domains is suddenly up, especially in the last quarter of the year 2021.

I have been trying to find some posts/articles/news which tells about such domains & their purposes , however, the results mostly shows things about .eth (blockchain domains) instead of the conventional domains with eth on the left side of the dot( keyword like eth.xyz). Even in namepros-most of the posts were about blockchain domains( Domain.ETH).

So here, I made my own post .

What is your knowledge about the probable purposes of buying many eth domains for such high price after years of popularity of Etherium.

See some sales of the last three months-

Eth.green 45000$
Eth.digita;14199$
Eth.Paris50000$
Eth.cards 10451$
Eth.website 50000$
Eth.pictures 2010$

1. Who might be buying them?
2.Do they have a reason or just investing as a domainer?
3.Is there any technological trend coming that might be behind the purpose of obtaining premium Eth domains?
4.Is the trend sustainable?
5. Is there any relation between the sales of eth.extension domains & rising demand of leyword.eth (blockchain domain)?
6.what other things might effect the upward/downward value of eth.extension domains?

Let us know & share your perceptions.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
NFT transactions run on Ethereum so it's possible tech companies in this space are among the buyers.

Main usage is just to link it to your wallet address. Instead of having to tell someone to send x amount to a 42 generated alphanumeric randomized address, way easier to send it to Ariff, for example (name that can still be regged btw) No need to copy paste... just Ariff.eth Also to flex on places like Twitter. And as crypto becomes more universally adopted big companies will like to have there ens name to receive payments as you would do with a card or payapl, as well as NFTs become mainstream and they are used for all type of case scenarios and eventually make use of it as a normal ICANN name.
Imagine if URLs were not convirted to frendly user language and you had to know that the IP address to visit namepros. Well similar
You can check on any broser adding .xyz followed by the eth address to check that wallet, no need for etherscan, dappraddar or any other 3rd party site.
But Im pretty new to this so, hope we get some good answers here.

Mainly bought by some ethereum network based startups.

Other trend is to use these as storefronts to display or sell eth based NFT collections.
