Estibot?

I've tried using Estibot's free appraisal service, and I'd like to know what do you guys think about its accuracy.

Everytime I type in random two or three generic domain name, the value result always come up with at least $420, with some of them in four digit range.

When I clicked 'help me sell this domain', it will ask you to be a paid member to do so.

So, what do you think about Estibot? Do they inflate result to tease new paid membership?

...or, what is the most recommended domain appraisal company nowadays?

There's no such thing as an accurate automated domain appraisal. There are many factors to consider; estibot and other robots can only apply naïve algorithms to their input.

These tools can be useful to highlight potentially interesting names, but it's up to you to do research and reality-check the result.

Automated tools typically look at keywords, CPC etc but they can't tell you if the name even makes sense.

According to estibot StupidTool.com is worth $340. Who would pay $340 for a name with a bad connotation ?

Anyway an appraisal is just theoretical value (in case you have an interested buyer), doesn't mean it can and will sell for that amount or even close.

I think newbies should ignore those tools completely, because they are bound to make a lot of bad purchases until they question the validity of such tools. A script cannot make you understand what makes a domain valuable.
