I am installing a wordpress theme I really like on a site. I have installed before no problems

But this one gives me this error message...I have put x's in for the name of the site.

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX.php:975) in /home3/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/pluggable.php on line 850

I am unclear how to fix this. Do I look in my hosts Cpanel or at WP and if WP where in the Editor page do I look and how do I figure out what line 850 is.

Thanks!!

This error means that the PHP script has output some characters, then attempts to ouput HTTP headers. It is usually caused by a blank line being accidentally inserted at the beginning or end of a PHP file. Did you edit any of your PHP files before uploading? If so, check for blank lines at the beginning or end of them.

If you use the "View Page Source" option in your web browser, you'll probably see the extra output (a space or blank line) before the "Warning..." message.

Unfortunately I dont have notepad in my computer anymore...I spent several hours trying to figure out how to put an accessory pack that has it to reinstall it, to make it work but could not.

I did not alter the WP theme in anyway. I just uploaded it. I uninstalled WP reinstalled it and installed a fresh copy of the theme (see below) but I still get the header error message.

This is the theme......http://wptemplates.org/?p=1625

I cant figure out how to fix the header error. Not sure where to look.

Thoughts apprecated!

If you didn't edit any fil, then you may have a plugin causing trouble. Deactivate all plugins, and if you have no errors, activate them one by one until you find which one is causing problems

hmmm... that's weird. Which theme are you using? It seems by your info that is some theme called "dollar". The only thing I could find is the theme called "WP Dollar Car" and if so, it's compatible up to wordpress 2.3.3. If you're using a newer WP version (quite possibly since it's already at 2.7 and 2.3 version dates from 2006) then maybe that's where the error is.

Just in case, post which theme are you using and what WP version. In the meanwhile, try using the default theme and let us know if it works properly

I had a similar issue with WP & I had installed the same template before on the same host with no problem.

I emailed my host & they were tinkering with my .htaccess file. The error I got was the same: "headers already sent".

They restored my .htaccess file to what it was before & WP worked. It may not be related to your issue, but maybe if you bounce it off your host, it can be a misconfiguration.

I have about 8 or so other sites and they are all working...so I am not sure it could be that could it?
I also uninstalled WP and the theme and reinstalled.

I think the solution to your problem is easy to fix:

Wordpress Error - Warning: Cannot modify header information Headers Already Sent

The solution to this issue is quite simple. Youโ€™ll need to connect to your blog via FTP. Look for a file called wp-config.php and download it.

This file is created when you install Wordpress, and it wonโ€™t be available in your local files, so you must download it to fix the error. Now open the file and check out the top of the file starting with:

<?php. If there are any spaces before it, delete them. Then scroll down to the bottom of the file and check for any spaces below the php?>

and remove them if there are any. Simple as that. All you need to do is reupload the file and youโ€™ll be good to go.

And that fixed the issue for me.

Good luck!
