hi,

http://erant.co.uk

ok, just launched it out of beta. The idea of the site got some great feedback, and so we have tried to keep it simple, but functional. I still have some ideas for it (tagging/clouds, maybe rss feeds etc), and so if it grows, they may be implemented.

for now, I am happy with it. if you could maybe crit on the design? and, if you are extra nice, sign up, rant, comment etc, and comment how easy it was to do?

cheers to anyone that has the time!

Hi,

Looks rather nice!

The colour scheme is good and I like the layout.

Maybe you could make the logo linked to the homepage too? The welcome message bubble could be in a slightly different colour to stand out.

Have you considered ajax? It would be quite cool if when you click (x comments), it drops down there on the page with the comments.

The link and text styling can be confusing. Where it shows the author of the rant it is in the same style as the comments link, therefore I assume the author's name is a link.

Check your code validation: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://erant.co.uk/index.php

When I go to signup, the title of the page doesn't change, nor when I view the comments.

I sorta think that the login form should be somewhere else and the adsense go all the way to the top.

When I signed up I got:

Comments: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 4
on the index.php page.

I don't really like the user menu when you are logged in. The white borders look yuck.

I like the idea! Keep it up :)

hey, cheers for the great review!

I realise my validation is bad, I need to finish that off (I always forget about it until the end).

Quite a lot of the site is in ajax, the edit in place for example. I think if the comments just popped down, it'd make the home page huge.

yea, the username was supposed to be a link, and will be shirtly, I shuld've left the styling out though haha.

i have quite a lot of similar comments about the right column, and I am not sure what to do with it. Maybe add the login near the top under the nav bar (like in a tab).

the error is also a weird one, I can't get to the bottom of it, but hopefully it shall be fixed soon!

thanks again! (rep'd)
