Dear colleagues,

I would like to transfer out some of my domains from EPIK.COM and new registrar requires to turn privacy off (disable Whois privacy) before the transfer.
I contacted EPIK support to turn off privacy for some expired domains (30 days after expiration is not passed) and they refused me with this request. Is it correct that EPIK refused with my request to disable Whois Privacy for the expired domains that is not passed 30 days after expiration?

That sounds more like the new-registrar issue, because why would they need the privacy to be turned off? It has no relevance for domain transfer. They just need an authcode. As for the domains and epik - you didn't write what kind of domains and some (many) TLDs don't allow registrant change for expiring domains.

I gave this a little thought, and my guess is that the new registrar thinks that with domain privacy on they cannot get the owner's email to send the transfer confirmation. Of course, this isn't the case - our domain privacy has an email that is a blind proxy, and the domain confirmation email should go through without a problem. The only other possibility is that they want to see the actual owner's name/address/phone to confirm it. But again, that's not an ICANN requirement and pb is right, EPP key and email working are the only things that need to be in place.

MasterGuru, if you're truly stuck here, you can turn off privacy, but I get it if you don't want to. In that case, if you'd like me to contact the gaining registrar directly, registrar-to-registrar, I'd be happy to do that and gently remind them that the key and email are the important parts. DM me if you want.

We're sorry to see you go, but we'll always help with whatever you need!
