Hello,

I registered some domain name *.com (sorry, I will not type it here) - quite short and brandable (but not a usual keyword).
Then I got a email from some company from New Zelandia with proposition to sell it to them.
They asked me to tell them how much do I want for this domain.
I googled for this company - this company is big and has a good revenue (about ~100 000 000 per year or even more according to officical docs).

Can you please give me some advice about that?

How should I act here?

How much should I ask?

Thank you in advance.

hard to tell you how much to ask without knowing the actual name of the domain , but anyway an option could be to give the ball back to them and let them make the first offer - u can possibly write them something like ; 'not sure if i am selling but will consider good offers'

Thank you for the quick reply.
The name is identical to the company`s name. And it is due to randomness - I really did not know about this company when I registered it. The message from them was some kind of surprise.

The name is quite brandable, I think.

they have a revenue about 100 mln.

Maybe should I ask for low $XXXXX?

P.S. This name is not seem to be an international trademark, so no problems with law here, I think.

from what i saw , sometime the riches company's can be also the cheapest so having a lot of money does not necessarily mean they will pay top dollar.

again , i think it will be not right (for me at least ) to tell u anything regarding price without knowing the name

If they are doing $100 Million per year and you have their .com, then just assume that everything is in place for them to take it from you.

Ask them to make you an offer, but tread lightly.

It is hard to give you any advice without knowing the details, but here is some general advice. When you have a domain that has limited end users, and the perfect end user contacts you, don't be too greedy and lose the sale.

I agree with Brad, being too Greedy / Demanding will take the things on negative side. So the best part is to reply them politely and asking them what they can offer and then negotiate... Best of Luck. Do keep us posted about the Final Results...

I would ask for some random number like $4750. This is cheap to a company like that. I wouldn't give them to much time to come up with an offer because they might want to spend that money on a lawyer instead. Take what you can and run !!

Thank you very much for your replies.
What is the best way to sale it?

Through GoDaddy or through Sedo?

I mean - how can I safely transfer my domain to the company and receive payment for sure.

Go for Escrow or Paypal...

Actually I didnt contacted the customer yet, I just want to be a little bi more experienced.

Is PayPal provides safe service to sell domain with some guarantee to both sides?

Is Escrow provides it?

If you want "guarantee to both sides" then go for Escrow...

Thank you very much for your help.
Escrow seems to be a very good service and I will use it.

But still I doubt about price for the domain...

They approached you. Tell them how much you like the domain and thought of developing it because of it's unique brandability. How lucky you are to own such a name. But that to make them fair to them, whats the best offer they can make?? Feel free to pm me. I can help you better if I knew more info.

its best first to search if that name has any tm with them :p

If it's a real company who want the name and not just some scam, I'd say you tell them this

"I'm not actually looking to sell at the moment but any good offers may change my mind. Let me know, what you are willing to pay and we can go from there.
Thanks
Your Name"
