End of Energy Debate? Sam Altman Compares AI to Human Evolution

The global conversation regarding the massive power requirements of artificial intelligence has reached a fever pitch, but OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently offered a provocative perspective to reframe the narrative. According to a report by News18, Altman suggested that the energy used to train advanced AI models should be viewed through the lens of biological evolution. In a striking comparison, he noted that "training a human takes 20 years of food," implying that the investment in intelligence—whether biological or silicon-based—inherently requires significant resources. This analogy seeks to shift the focus from the sheer volume of electricity consumed by data centers to the long-term value and efficiency of the intelligence being created. For more coverage

If you take Sam's point to it's logical conclusion, humans are basically obsolete.

All these tech oligarchs are simply motivated by their own greed and thirst for power.

They might start with good intentions, but it never ends that way.

Just look at Anthropic's recent flip on their safety pledge -

We will see how into AI people are when their electric bills double or triple in price, as their jobs are replaced.

Thanks Brad for keep your viewpoint with so much clarity supported by highly trusted source. Now a days most of the reputed AI platforms are rushing for innovations of new products to make money, not to serve human society as a whole.

@CashproofDomains.com @bmugford Thanks everyone for sharing your perspectives. It’s helpful to see both the optimism and the concerns around AI energy use and these kinds of discussions really help me think about the bigger picture more clearly.
